Dupa “padurea inundata”, Drumul Frumos continua pe dig, ultima reduta in calea apelor Dunarii. Zona dinspre Dunare este impartita in niste incinte, marginite spre Dunare de un dig de aparare. Insa, de-a lungul timpului, din nesimtire sau din prostie, acest dig a fost spart. Acum apele Dunarii au inundat complet aceste incinte, folosite de satenii din comuna Dunarea pentru agricultura. In pozele 2 si 3 se vede in fundal Dunarea curgand nestingherita in dreptul unei sparturi.

La intrarea in comuna Dunarea se desfasurau ample lucrari de aparare impotriva apelor : vreo 200 de saci cu nisip pusi “la misto” pe coama unui dig. Desi Dunarea era pana la baza comunei, nimeni prin preajma care sa se arate macar ingrijorat. Atentie, era intr-o vineri, nu era inca weekend. Nici tipenie de om in zona digurilor. Numai un cal care pastea linistit, intrat aproape cu copitele in apa…

Dupa comuna Dunarea, Drumul Frumos a fost marginit pana spre Capidava de largi zone inundate, unele impadurite sau cu vegetatie, altele nu.
